Music Video Release Postponed, Show Still On! (5/22/2008)

Due to circumstances beyond the band's control, the music video for "Love, Myself" will not be released at the Baltimore show this Saturday. The production company was unable to finish it in time due to some last minute personal business. However, the show itself is still on and we want to see everyone there!

We sincerely apologize to any fans this may have disappointed, but we can assure you it's for the best and once you see the finished video we think you'll agree. It's turning out great so far. As a token of our appreciation to fans, we're going to be handing some freebies at the Baltimore show.

The band would also like to welcome Jaysen Goodwin to the team as the band's new manager. He's been a long-time fan and supporter, and we have every confidence that he will take the band to the next level. He can be contacted at management@nocorock.com.

New Blogs and Video (12/17/2007)

The band has been in the studio hard at work on its upcoming Spring release. You can get all the latest updates by reading the new studio journal entries and checking out the in-studio videos at the NoCo MySpace page. The videos will give you a behind-the-scenes look at everything from William rocking the drum setup to the offices of Cue Studios featuring a very white and '80s Michael Jackson. Expect an announcement of the new album title very soon.

Back to the Studio (12/04/2007)

NoCo is officially returning to Cue Studios in Falls Church to record the follow-up to March's Pull the Plug EP release. The band is planning seven brand new songs for the currently untitled project, most of which have not been debuted at any live shows yet. However, the band has confirmed that "Restless," "Whatever It Takes," and "Love, Myself" did make the final cut and will all appear on the album which is tentatively scheduled for an early Spring 2008 release.

Members of the band will be maintaining a studio journal on the NoCo MySpace page chronicling the progress over the next few weekends. Keep checking back for more updates about the new album and the announcement of the CD release show.

NoCo in the News (10/13/2007)

NoCo was recently highlighted in the Silver Spring Penguin, a local publication based right here in Silver Spring where the band makes its home. The piece includes some praise for Pull the Plug, but also comments on the band in general writing:

The former Terps — bassist Justin Fry, axman Jack Kwait-Blank, and William Bowen on the skins — are tall, frosty mugs of guitar rock with stiff grunge chasers. The resulting buzz sends the room spinning and the ears bleeding. It’s good.

The article goes on to relate NoCo to great acts such as The Police, Foo Fighters, Third Eye Blind, and Tool. Those bands aren't often mentioned in the same sentence, which just underscores the sonic diversity of NoCo. To read the full article, grab the latest edition of the Silver Spring Penguin or go read it on their website.

Fall Updates (10/08/2007)

The leaves are falling off the trees and the weather's getting a little colder, which means two things - it's Fall, and NoCo is getting ready to record another album. But don't despair, even though the band is working on new material there are still shows on the schedule.

October 12
McGinty's (Silver Spring, MD)
October 27
Private Party (Silver Spring, MD)
December 1
Fletcher's (Baltimore, MD)

See the tour page for more information.

The Dec 1 show in Baltimore will most likely be the last show before NoCo officially enters the studio for several weeks, so you won't want to miss it. If you attended the CD release show there last March, you know it was a great time.

Union Jack's Show Cancelled (8/08/2007)

The Union Jack's Happy Hour show scheduled for this Friday (August 10) has been cancelled after discussions with the venue. We apologize to any fans this cancellation may have inconvenienced.

The band is taking a short touring break to work on writing material for the upcoming album that will be recorded this winter. Also expect some very big announcements coming in the near future.

Justin Trawick Opening for NoCo (7/23/2007)

Hot on the heels of NoCo opening for the national touring act Nine Days, NoCo has just secured Justin Trawick to open up for the huge Strasburg Theater show this weekend on July 28!

Justin works out of the DC area and has been hugely successful both as a solo act and playing with an accompanying band. He's performed at the top quality DC area venues such as the 930 club and Iota. His acoustic folk rock music has garnered comparisons to Jason Mraz, G-Love, and Jack Johnson.

This means that when you come to Strasburg on Saturday to see NoCo, you don't get an unknown local band opening up, but you get two high quality acts for your listening pleasure. Tickets are still available through the band or through the door for $10. The show is ages 21+ only.

Summer Updates and Big News (7/03/2007)

NoCo fans, in case you haven't heard there are a lot of big things going on with the band this summer. First, and foremost we have a number of quality shows coming up. On July 21, we are opening up for the national act Nine Days at Ned Devines in Herndon! Trying to remember who they are? Just go to their MySpace and we think you'll recognize the third track. This is your chance to see NoCo perform on stage with a national touring act!

We also have a couple of acoustic shows coming up, but the big news is we are headlining a huge show at Strasburg Theater on July 28. We want to see all our friends and fans from the valley and the DC metro area there for the show. Where is Strasburg exactly? If you're in the DC area, it's less than an hour away, right where interstates 81 and 66 meet near Winchester, VA. The venue is spacious and has an eager bar staff ready to help you get your drink on. As if that's not enough, NoCo is also sponsoring a huge after party in the area after the show. It's going to be the can't-miss event of the summer. See the Tour page to get more details on all the upcoming shows.

Finally, we've been informed that NoCo is being awarded yet another track of the day honor on Garageband for positive reviews, this time for the second single off Pull the Plug, "Aloud to Me." This is the second track from the EP to receive the award since "So Hot" did it in April 2007.

NoCo On the Radio! (6/05/2007)

We just learned that NoCo is going to be featured on the June 9th edition of the RockLocker, a syndicated radio show put out by our friend and champion of indie music Bam-Bam. The show plays a good mix of brand new hard rock as well as some modern classics, much better than most of the repetitive schlock your hear on most stations today. It's fully free and downloadable from the website or iTunes, so you can take it with you to go.

This is great news for NoCo, as the show is syndicated weekly to serveral commercial radio stations. We strongly encourage everyone to check out the RockLocker and look for NoCo starting June 9th in the Indie Music Radar section!

More Press and iTunes (5/10/2007)

We received another awesome review, this time from Craig at Away Team. Here's an excerpt from the latest review:

"Solid and pleasing performances from all three musicians and a very good mix of music make this a standout release for '07. Check them out online at WWW.NOCOROCK.COM and purchase a copy of this stellar release there as well. Very Highly Recommended!!!"

The review also highlights some other specifics, and the only complaint is that "the boys should have gone ahead and scraped the money together to produce a full-length album to showcase all the talent they managed to cram into these four songs." Go visit away team to read the full review.

Even more excellent news, "Pull the Plug" is now available on iTunes! There are so many ways to get the new album now, you have no excuse for not picking it up! The reviews speak for themselves, so don't miss out on one of the best releases of 2007!

"Pull the Plug" Reviewed! (5/03/2007)

We just got word that "Pull the Plug" was reviewed by David Schrimpf of jefitoblog.com. The site is a personal site but frequently serves as an indie music review publication and has thousands of regular readers. The review is generally very positive, we've pulled David's sum of the experience below:

"This EP is very impressive. The sound is heavy enough to appeal to fans of grunge, but with vocals that are more power-pop oriented. It's a good mixture, and the band sounds very tight and confident. Don't be surprised if No Compromise becomes the next big thing in old-school alternative rock."

That's awesome! People may chalk this up to the review being overwhelmingly positive, but we have to say the review is extremely well written and thorough. Each track is broken down individually and it's clear that David not only listened to the surface but also analyzed the lyrics - something you don't see as often. Even if the review was trashing us, we'd have to concede that it was intelligently written.

So go checkout the full review of "Pull the Plug", but you should also do yourself a favor and read the rest of the blog. There's a lot of good stuff in there that isn't NoCo related. Thanks to David and jefitoblog.com for the press!

"So Hot" To Be Featured On GarageBand! (4/10/2007)

We've just been informed that due to enthusiastic reviews, "So Hot (Water Level's Rising)," one of the singles off NoCo's latest EP, will be a featured track on GarageBand. It will be displayed on the GarageBand Hard Rock home page for 24 hours on Sunday, April 15. This is great news for the band and its fans alike!

If you're not familiar with GarageBand, it's the foremost site for independent music and features a lot of really talented unsigned acts. You can scope out NoCo on GarageBand or feel free to browse some of the other great acts on the site.

Battle of the Bands Vote! (4/07/2007)

NoCo has entered the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands for a chance to play the Warped Tour and we need YOUR support to make it. All you have to do is go to our page and VOTE for us. It will only take a minute of your time and it will help us out enormously. So please visit our page and come vote for us so you can come see us rock out on the Warped Tour this summer!

NoCo Rules the Broadjam Charts (3/28/2007)

The band continues to get more positive reviews on Broadjam, a site promoting independent music. So far two songs have charted - "So Hot (Water's Level Rising)" currently occupies the #7 spot on the hard rock top 10, while "Woe Is Me" sits at #8 on the alternative rock chart. "Woe Is Me" previously reached the #2 spot on alternative rock and also made the top 10 overall rock charts. Broadjam doesn't provide direct links to the individual genre top 10s, but you can check them out by going to the overall top 10 and then selected alternative rock or hard rock.

Several other NoCo songs are on the verge of reaching the minimum number of reviews to chart, so the band is anticipating even more success as additional reviews come in. Stay tuned for more updates!

Upcoming Shows - with Special Acoustic Performance (3/26/2007)

NoCo has some great shows coming up in the month of April. We'll be rocking the Grog in north Georgetown on April 7. NoCo also has a very first - an all acoustic performance coming up at College Perk featuring all the members of the band. Hear the melodic side of NoCo and kick back with a couple of drinks and friends. Stay tuned to the tour page for details.
